Harry Holcroft

Auction: Xixuau Xiparina Reserve

Xixuau Xiparina Reserve

Sarah Holcroft has kindly donated this picture for auction it is the last oil painting that Harry painted and it was finished in September 2013 just before he left for Oman and India.

Harry painted this image to draw attention to the work of the Amazon Charitable Trust and in particular a proposed Amazon Science Research Village in the Xixuau Xiparina Reserve. The Science Research Village will not only assist in the study of the preservation of these forests, but will be used for scientists to study the surrounding rainforest and to teach local people and students to preserve them.

The painting will be auctioned during the exhibition to raise funds for the Trusts Amazon boat.

Why do they need a boat?

This village is 400 miles away from Manaus and there are no roads that can reach it. This is their only link to the developed world and it is imperative to their community. The river dwellers have, through sheer determination, carved out a life for themselves with little governmental support, and asking for very little external help. This boat however is a necessity.

We do hope that you will support this fund raising initiative and that you would like to come and see the exhibition and bid for Harrys last painting. If you cannot attend the exhibition but would like to buy this wonderful painting and help us finance the boat you can leave an ABSENTEE BID - to do this just email Sarah Holcroft with all your details and the amount that you are prepared to pay. Nick Bonham, who is conducting the auction, will bid on your behalf and will try to buy as reasonably as other bids will allow.

Please leave your name, telephone number, contact details and the date with your TOP BID to: [email protected]

Thank You so much for your support, this is something that is close to Sarah's heart and she passionately would like to purchase the boat for the trust.
